Trinity County, CA — In recognition of World No Tobacco Day, Human Response Network’s Tobacco Education Program is raising awareness about how the tobacco and nicotine industry uses flavors, colorful packaging, social media influencers, and music and sports promotions to make harmful products look appealing.
This year’s World No Tobacco Day theme, announced by the World Health Organization, is “Unmasking the Appeal: Countering Nicotine and Tobacco Addiction.” The campaign highlights how tobacco and nicotine products are continually redesigned and marketed in ways that can attract young people and make quitting harder for people already using nicotine.
New nicotine products, including e-cigarettes, nicotine pouches, and other flavored or high-potency products, can deliver nicotine quickly and contribute to addiction. Human Response Network encourages community members to learn more about these products, talk with youth about industry marketing tactics, and connect people who want to quit with free support.
Free quit kits and nicotine product education will be available at the following locations:
Tuesday, May 26: Wiley’s Market, Hayfork, 2:30–5:30 p.m.
