Trinity County Service Providers to Host Homeless Point-in-Time Count on January 21st

Weaverville, CA – January 8, 2025– Trinity County will hold its annual Homeless Point-in-Time (PIT) Count on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Events will take place at two locations: the Veteran’s Memorial Hall in Weaverville and the Human Response Network office in Hayfork.

The Point-in-Time Count is a vital initiative that provides a snapshot of homelessness in Trinity County. This effort helps to better understand the scope of housing insecurity in the community and secure resources to address the issue.

During the event, individuals and families experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity will have access to a variety of resources and services, including:

  • A light meal

  • Donated coats and other supplies

  • Information on housing assistance programs

  • Support for veterans and families

  • Connections to local social services

“The Point-in-Time Count is not just about numbers; it’s about understanding and supporting those in our community who are struggling with housing insecurity,” said Sheri White, Executive Director at Human Response Network. “By participating in this event, we can work together to build a more comprehensive approach to addressing homelessness in Trinity County.”

Community members are encouraged to spread the word about the event to ensure individuals experiencing homelessness or housing instability are aware of the resources available to them. Surveys will also take place in communities in other areas of the county, and locations such as the Douglas City Soup Kitchen and the Trinity Congregational Food Pantry.

The Point-in-Time Count is a collaborative effort supported by local agencies and non-profits, including Trinity County agencies and Human Response Network. The data collected will be reported to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to help secure funding for local programs aimed at reducing homelessness.
